PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid a temperature from rising and a cooling effect from being decreased in cooling means, and obviate the requirement of a high typing energy by implementing an erasing process to heat the medium to the erasing temperature of the printing image of a medium and a printing process to heat over a coloring temperature successively in this order, or implementing this simultaneously, and thereafter carrying out typing and erasing operations by a cooling process. SOLUTION: Rewriting is performed by transporting a printed recording medium 34 in the order of each typing and cooling process. In erasing means 41, a heating member 59 operates to bring the recording medium 34 in press contact to a platen roller 60 with a constant pressure in order for only a recording layer to reach an erasing temperature effectively. Printing means 42 conduct a new typing to the recording medium 34 by a thermal head 46 and a platen roller 47. Cooling means 71 serves to perform rapid cooling operation for sufficient coloring density by installing a pressing member 72 and allowing the cooling member to be in contact with the recording medium 34. By providing a temperature detectors 81, 82, a contact time is controlled between the recording medium 34 and the cooling member. |
