PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recorder in which ink can be prevented surely from being solidified in a cap without lowering the recording speed or increasing ink consumption. SOLUTION: Since ink solvent S is fed from an ink solvent feeder 70 into the cap 181 of a capping unit 18 being discharged with ink from the nozzle 111 of a recording head 16, ink is not solidified in the cap 181 even it ink is not discharged frequently from the recording head 16 into the cap 181. Consequently, an ink absorbing member 182 in the cap 181 does not lose the function thereof. Since wet state prevails constantly in the cap 181, ink in the nozzle 111 can be prevented surely from being solidified by the vapor of the solvent S when the nozzle forming face 160 of the recording head 16 is covered with the cap 181. |
