<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce an aluminum ingot low in cost, high in yield, and approximately in true density by preliminarily forming aluminum powder in advance, and compressing the preliminarily formed body by a single-shaft compression molding machine which is opened in the atmosphere in a hot condition at the temperature not higher than the softening starting point of aluminum. SOLUTION: Aluminum turnings generated in the machining process of aluminum are preliminarily formed in advance by a preliminarily forming machine. The turnings fed from a hopper 3 through a screw feeder 4 are compression molded with a specific pressure of >=300 kg/cm<2> by a single-shaft compression molding machine 20 provided with a cylinder barrel 5, a press ram 6, a hydraulic cylinder 7, or the like. A preliminarily formed body A is charged in a heating furnace 10 through a conveyor 2. The preliminarily formed body A is heated in a furnace body 11 provided with a burner 12 at the temperature close to the softening starting point of the aluminum turnings. The preliminarily formed body A in the hot condition is compressed by the single-shaft compression molding machine 20 opened in the atmosphere with the pressing pressure of >=1.9 ton/cm<2> to obtain a metal ingot having density of >=97% of true density.</p> |
