PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent adhesion or accumulation inside the apparatus of dust made sticky under a water spray while maintaining attemperating performance. SOLUTION: This apparatus is provided with an outer cylinder 10 which has an exhaust gas supply port 12 on the underside part thereof opened in the tangential direction of a cylinder wall and a cooled exhaust gas outlet 14 at an upper part thereof, an inner cylinder 22 so arranged concentric with the outer cylinder near the exhaust gas supply port in the outer cylinder to make a space 20 between it and the inner wall of the outer cylinder, an inner cylinder expanded part 36 linked to an upper end of the inner cylinder concentric with the inner cylinder and a cooling water spray nozzle 30 provided in the inner cylinder or the inner cylinder expanded part. A part of an exhaust gas is bypassed in a region from the inner cylinder expanded part 36 to the outer cylinder 10 to be blown out as cover gas in a sheet along the inner wall of the inner cylinder expanded part 36 and the inner wall of the outer cylinder 10 by a cover gas blowoff means from clearances 40 and 38.
