PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically compare a position in the real world with an estimation current position in map data, by comparing a camera image being obtained by photographing the real world with mark image data being stored into a mark image database system. SOLUTION: While a vehicle 101 where a driver 102 drives is traveling on a road 104 in an arrow direction, a specific mark 103 exists on the road 104. A mark image comparison device 100 photographs an area near an estimation current position by an image photography part 5 for obtaining the image of the mark 103 in the real world. On the other hand, the mark image comparison device 100 reads a mark image being related to the estimation current position from a mark image database system 6, compares the image with the image of the mark 103 in the real world by an image comparison part 7, and informs the driver 102 of the coincidence of both images when the mark image referring the estimation current position coincides with the image of the mark 103, thus eliminating the need for looking for the surrounding mark 103 while the driver 102 drives, and hence allowing an inexperienced driver to securely noticing the mark 103 without giving troubles to the inexperienced driver and losing safety. |
