PRODUCTION OF SYNTHETIC FIBER TOW

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a synthetic fiber tow by limiting a slip to a minimum on a take-up roller in the spinning and take-up process so as to limit the residual yarn waste to a minimum at the end of the drawing process. SOLUTION: This synthetic fiber tow is produced by melt spinning a polymer followed by take-up with a rake-up roller; wherein the moisture content S of the fiber tow prior to feed to the take-up roller is brought to 15-35 wt.% and the ratio of the total fineness D (denier) of the fiber tow to its width W (m) satisfy the relationship: 1×10<6> <=D/W<=3×10<6> .
