A method for treating diseases and symptoms caused by papillomaviruses is presented. The method comprises administering an effective amount of one or more 2',5'-oligoadenylates consisting of the structure: wherein R2 is PO42- and R3 is OH, R2 and R3 are OH; and n=1 or n=2.
