PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a port wet phenomenon by forming a proper fuel atomization. SOLUTION: An injector 18 is equipped with a nozzle hole plate 45 having a plurality of nozzle holes 45a at the bottom surface of a valve body 41. An air supply adapter 44 is mounted at the forefront of the valve body 41. At the undersurface of the valve body 41, an air passage 50 provided in the valve body 41 opens elliptically in such a way as surrounding the nozzle hole plate 45, and this opening serves as an air nozzle hole 50a. A pressurized air supplied to an air supply adapter 44 at the time of fuel injection flows into the air passage 50 and is jetted out from the air nozzle hole 50a, i.e., the tip of the injector. At this time, the jetted air builds an air curtain in cylindrical form and enwraps the fuel spray. By this air curtain, widening of the atomization angle is suppressed even in case the fuel pressure is heightened and the atomization angle of the injected fuel by the injector 18 has a tendency of widening. |
