DISINFECTING APPARATUS AND METHOD UTILIZING HIGH VOLTAGE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disinfecting apparatus and method which are free from a problem of the ozone depletion with a higher safety by disinfecting various bacteria easily and efficiently under a normal temperature and a normal pressure for reduction in the number of bacteria without impairing quality intrinsic to the bacteria as object to dispense with pre-treatment and post-treatment. SOLUTION: Bacteria as object 7 are interposed between electrodes 3 and 4 of a disinfecting apparatus 1 which is provided with a power source part 2 for generating a high voltage and a treating device 5 having the discharge side electrode 3 to which is applied the generated high voltage and the ground side electrode 4. A pulse streamer discharge is generated between the electrodes 3 and 4 in an atmosphere controlled to a moisture suitable for disinfection under a normal temperature and a normal pressure to accomplish disinfection.
