PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable effectively the working of fold width and a filter medium for a filter having different fold widths, to lower the installation cost and to save a space without arranging plural striping rolls for every device base. SOLUTION: A pair of striping rolls 2, 3 and a pair of striping rolls 4, 5 are arranged in an axle-to-axle distance C=πd1 +A (d1 is the diameter of the striping roll, A is the width of fold). A base material 6 for a filter medium is set between the striping rolls 2, 3 and 4, 5 and striped parts 2a, 3a... are carved on the base material 6 at prescribed positions by striping blades 72, 73, 74, 75 of the striping rolls 2, 3, 4, 5. If a distance between the striped parts in the adjacent same position is made to 2(A+B) (B is folding width), this value is equal to a ratio of the rotation speed v of the striping roll to the feeding speed V of the base material for the filter medium by the feeding roll and by determining the speed ratio, the value of arbitrary folding width B can be obtained.
