The fan has at least one annular channel (14) in the end of a stationary housing part (12) and an impeller wheel (24) rotatable about an axis (32) with blades forming blade chambers (38) that are open towards the annular channel, whereby there is an axial gap (39) between the end of the housing part and the end of the impeller wheel. The gap size (40) is dependent on radial distance from the axis and is smaller near an inner edge (34) of the impeller wheel bounding on a hub (28) than near an outer edge (36) of the impeller wheel.
