The operation device has a drive element with a drive shaft and a first gear wheel fixed on it, and a second gear wheel which meshes with the first gear wheel. The second gear wheel has a disc-shaped element at an axial end region that carries a peripheral wedge. Furthermore the device has a toothed rod sliding longitudinally. At least a part-region of the peripheral wedge engages the teeth of the rod. The toothed rod forms the output element of the device. The operation device also has an actuation element which is preferably an electric motor.
