PURPOSE: A microwave oven is provided to effectively prevent the heat generated from the cooking chamber from being transferred to the decorative cover. CONSTITUTION: A microwave oven comprises an outer casing(10), a cooking chamber, and a door for opening/closing the front opening of the cooking chamber. The door includes an outer plate(16) forming an outer appearance of the door and which has a square aperture formed at the center of the outer plate so as to accommodate a transparent window(18); an inner plate(14) to be coupled to the rear surface of the outer plate of the door; and the transparent window interposed between the outer plate and the inner plate so as to observe the food being cooked. The transparent window is made up of a reinforced glass with a high durability. A decorative cover(20) is attached to the upper and lower front portion of the outer plate of the door so as to achieve an aesthetic enhancement. A separating protrusion(22) is arranged at the upper and lower front portions of the outer plate to which decorative covers are to be attached, respectively. The protrusion prevents the heat generated from the cooking chamber from being transferred to the decorative cover through the inner and outer plates of the door.
