PURPOSE: A method for generating a recording signal of an optical recorder/player is provided to generate the recording signal to record a middle part of a recording pit with a second level and an end with a lower level than the second level. CONSTITUTION: A V-I amplifier outputs a current in proportion to a fed voltage by turning on when write/erase/cooling switching pulses are high. In a recording section, in the middle of a recording pit, a second level is set by turning on/off the write pulse and turning on the erase/read pulses. A cooling power level is set by turning off the erase pulse when the write pulse is turned off in the end of the recording pit. The cooling power level becomes a read power level when the read pulse is turned on. A cooling pulse width and a level are separately taken according to a length of the pit.
