Tire with tread divided into base and capping regions

The base (16) comprises a tread mixture and has at least one region (17a, 17b) extending to the tread surface (26). Preferred features: The region is constructed as a shoulder, to the side(s) of the tread (11). It may extend to the surface, at the center of the tread. To improve running properties, the shoulder is angled down, or rounded at the edge of the tire. Between shoulders (17a, 17b) and cap region (15) there is a side groove (19) forming an asymmetric profile and/or draining water and/or improving running characteristics. The shoulder has transverse grooves. The cap has longitudinal grooves (20) extending just into the base region. The base region has greater electrical conductivity than the cap region (15). Its rigidity is greater or less than that of the cap.
