<p>A method for constructing pseudo-hibernant fishes and shellfishes which comprises administering one or more substances selected from the serum of a hibernant mammal under hibernation, delta-opioid peptide and delta-opioid peptide receptor ligand to the fishes and shellfishes. Thus establishment is made of a method for inducing fishes and shellfishes which would not hibernate in nature into a state physiologically close to hibernation (hereinafter called psuedo-hibernation), maintaining this state and awaking them. Consequently, a method is established for safely storing and transporting fresh fishes at a high survival ratio, thus enabling transportation of fresh fishes at an elevated efficiency.</p> |
