Method of automatic modeling of stratigraphic structure of underground region

The method involves calculating the gradient of each parameter in relation to parameters to be set, using a direct model. The model is optimized by minimizing a criterion function by successive iterations, until a sufficient differential reduction is obtained. The sensitivity of the direct model is calculated with respect to the parameters to be set, to produce a stratigraphic representation of the underground region. An Independent claim is also included for apparatus for automatic modeling of a stratigraphic structure.
