<p>The present invention pertains to a micro system comprising a system of operably linked, interconnected compartments wherein at least one reagent immobilised on at least one particle is capable of contacting an analyte comprised in a liquid carrier. The micro system comprises i) at least one particle with surface properties suitable for immobilising at least one reagent thereon, ii) at least one reagent suitable for being immobilised on the surface of the at least one particle, iii) a first compartment for storage of the at least one particle, iv) a second compartment in which the liquid sample may interact with the reagent immobilised on at least one particle, each of said first and second compartments having at least one opening for passing liquids between the compartment and the exterior, and v) means for subjecting at least part of the system to a field so as to move at least one particle between said first and said second compartment, and vi) a passage defined between said first compartment and said second compartment so as to allow at least one particle to be moved from one of said compartments to the other through said passage.
