A double-walled charcoal-kiln (1) has a wall filling of liquid or gas (2) which absorbs heat for delivery to a heat exchanger and thence to a consumer. A charcoal-kiln (1) has a double-wall structure containing an internal liquid or gas filling (2) which absorbs heat during the wood carbonization for delivery to a heat exchanger and thence to a consumer. The kiln is ignited by combustion elements (9) and the carbonization off-gas (5) is cleaned, supplied with oxygen (air) and burned.
