PURPOSE: An engine protection device is provided to protect the engine by controlling an intake air amount and stopping the operation of an accelerator pedal in overload. CONSTITUTION: A manual throttle valve(TH1) controls an air amount supplied to a combustion chamber in an engine(14) by adjusting an accelerator pedal(16). An oil temperature sensor(11) senses the temperature of engine oil. A coolant temperature sensor(12) senses the temperature of coolant. An engine electronic controller(13) determines the overload state of the engine by receiving the temperature from sensors, and operates a throttle valve motor(M) in overload. The throttle valve motor receives the driving signal from the engine electronic controller, and controls an intake air amount by opening/shutting an automatic throttle valve(TH2).
