Method of testing an external potentiometric sensor and its connecting cable in a control or regulation device

The method involves switching in an impedance between the signal line and a reference potential, pref. one of the supply lines to the potentiometer (1-8), monitoring and/or evaluating the sensor output signal and switching out the impedance. The associated arrangement uses a resistance (13) in series with a pref. electronically actuated switch (12) as the impedance. An Independent claim is also included for a device for testing a potentiometric sensor in a control or regulation device.
