An electric desalting apparatus for desalting water of any ion concentration from high to low concentration, characterized in that desalting chambers and condensing chambers are alternately formed by arranging cation and anion exchanging membranes between electrodes, the cation and anion exchanging membranes are partly alternated, a woven or unwoven fabric made of cation exchanging fibers is provided on the cation exchanging membrane and another woven or unwoven fabric made of anion exchanging fibers is provided on the anion exchanging membrane, both fabrics are opposed to each other, and an ionic conduction spacer having an ion exchanging function is fitted in a passage where water to be treated flows between the fabrics.
