METHOD FOR SEPARATING ZINC

Disclosed herein is a method of separating zinc from a zinc. bearing material, comprising the steps of exposing the material to a caustic leach solution, to liberate the zinc thereto, thereby to form a zinc-bearing solution; reacting the zinc-bearing solution with a sulphide-bearing precipitant to form a zinc sulphide solid phase; and separating the solid phase from the solution.
