Oxidation process for exhaust gases containing soot

The oxidation process involve taking the exhaust gases through a first outlet aperture (7) connecting a closable combustion chamber to an outlet channel (8). The exhaust gases are passed through a porous medium (9) in the outlet channel in the direct vicinity of the outlet aperture. The porous medium is inert, so most of the soot contained in the exhaust gases is oxidized non-catalytically in the gaseous phase.
