DISPLAY AND APPARATUS

An apparatus, particularly a display, which can be easily controllable by any one of two or more types of remote controllers, for instance, remote controllers of different manufacturers, while suppressing the cost increase as much as possible. The apparatus has a setting means for setting the apparatus so that the apparatus can be controlled by any one of a plurality of types of remote controllers and a switching means for switching the setting means so that the apparatus can be controlled by the remote controller. With this constitution, the apparatus can be so set as to be controlled by one of a plurality of types of remote controllers and malfunctioning caused by use of different type of remote controller can be avoided. Further, by switching the setting means by using an arbitrary remote controller, the switching can be done if a remote controller wanted to use alone exists.
