The storage medium is in the form of a read/only storage medium or of a read/write storage medium. The phonetic speech profile of the user is stored on the storage medium as speech-specific information in the form of parameters. The storage medium has data communications links to a number of electronic equipments. The parameters can be in the form of phonetic parameters, threshold values or mathematical models. Independent claims are also included for a method and system for converting information spoken by a user into character-coded information.
