A procedure for exchanging mast heads 912) of an angle support mast 910) of an installed overhead conductor is described. The overhead conductor has conductor bundles 92) for the phases and for earth formed out of single conductors. The bundles are fastened at attachments (14,15) provided on the mast head, for example cross-beams and are each removed for the exchange of the mast head. The overhead conductor is switched out. In the remaining lower mast region (11) before the exchange of the mast head, auxiliary supports (20) are attached for temporary fastening of the removed conductor bundles. The conductor bundles are removed with a mobile lifting device, especially a mobile crane, and suspended on the auxiliary supports. The existing mast head formed out of cross-beams, upper mast lengths (16) and an earth cable support (18) are dismantled by using the mobile lifting device, then replaced by the new mast head provided. The conductor bundles are again fastened with the mobile lifting device to the new mast head on the attachments assigned to them.
