<p>A battery water top-up plug has (a) a housing (11) with an external lower region or adapter matching the upper battery housing opening; (b) a closed cylindrical water chamber (13) with a water feed opening (15), closable by a valve (14), and a flow connection with the housing region communicating with the battery interior; (c) a pipe connector (16) for attachment of a water feed tube and in flow connection (17) with the valve inlet (18); (d) a float (19) extending downwards from the plug housing (11) and connected by a float rod (20) and an upper cross-piece (21) to the valve body (22); and (e) a valve housing (24) contg. the valve body (22), the valve inlet (18) and the water feed opening (15), the valve seat (26)being located around the water feed opening (15) under the top of the valve housing (24) and the valve stem (27) extending from the valve body (22) through the water feed opening (15) to the cross-piece (21). The novelty is that the valve stem (27) is connected to the cross-piece (21) in an interlocking and play-free manner, pref. by snap connection. Pref. the cross-piece (21) has a forked end, into which the complementary shaped upper end of the valve stem is inserted from the side for play-free locking in the vertical and horizontal directions, the fork tines having locking projections, which engage behind the valve stem upper end after insertion, and the valve stem upper end having a side groove for engaging the fork tines. The bottom of the plug housing (11) may have a plug shape and may receive various adapters.</p> |
