Stabilized solutions of 3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine and peroxidase substrate, used for detection of peroxidase labels in enzyme immunoassays, immunoblot assays and nucleic acid amplification assays

Stabilized solutions of 3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) and a peroxidase substrate contain an alkyl sulfate that forms an insoluble salt with TMB radical cations, whereby the TMB can be precipitated and immobilized in the pores of a membrane. Stabilized TMB/substrate solutions are precipitating TMB/substrate solutions. An Independent claim is also included for the production of a stable TMB/substrate solution by precipitation of TMB radical cations from a stable TMB/substrate solution at the site of their formation as a very sparingly soluble dye, that is an alkyl sulfate of the TMB radical cations and is securely anchored in the pores of a membrane.
