<p>A continuously variable transmission (CVT) chain has three chain portions, or chain assemblies (12,14,16), that are phased or off-set by one-half pitch length with respect to each other. Struts (74,130) that contact the pulleys of the CVT have upper portions that extend through passageways formed by depending toes in the inner links.
