Photoinitiator mixtures contain at least one monoacylphosphine oxide compound and at least one diacylphosphine oxide compound. Photoinitiator mixtures comprising (a) at least one monoacylphosphine oxide compound of formula R<1>-PO(R<2>)-CO-R<3> (I); R<1> = 1-18 C alkyl, 1-4C alkyl substituted by halogen or 1-6C alkoxy, 5-8C cycloalkyl, 7-9 C phenylalkyl, phenyl, naphthyl, biphenyl, phenyl, naphthyl or biphenyl substituted by one or more halogen, 1-12 C alkyl and/or 1-12 C alkoxy groups; or a monovalent 5 or 6 membered heterocyclic ring containing N, O or S; R<2> = phenyl, naphthyl, biphenyl, phenyl, naphthyl or biphenyl substituted by one or more halogen, 1-12 C alkyl and/or 1-12 C alkoxy groups; monovalent 5 or 6 membered heterocyclic ring containing N, O or S, 1-18C alkoxy, phenoxy, phenoxy substituted by halogen, 1-4C alkyl or 1-4C alkoxy, benzyloxy or cyclohexyloxy, or R<1> and R<2> together with the P atom to which they are attached may form a ring; R<3> = 1-18C alkyl; 1-4 C alkyl substituted by halogen or 1-6C alkoxy, 5-8C cycloalkyl, 7-9C phenylalkyl, phenyl, naphthyl, biphenyl, phenyl, naphthyl or biphenyl substituted by one or more halogen, 1-12 C alkyl and/or 1-12 C alkoxy groups; monovalent 5 or 6 membered heterocyclic ring containing N, O or S; or a group of formula -X-C(=O)-P(=O)(R<1>)(R<2>); X = 2-8C alkylene, cyclohexylene, or phenylene or biphenylene which may be substituted by halogen, 1-4C alkyl or 1-4 C alkoxy; and (b) at least one diacylphosphine oxide compound of formula R<5>-CO-PO(R<4>)-CO-R<6> (II); R<4> = 1-18C alkyl; 1-4C alkyl substituted by halogen or 2-6C alkoxy; 5-8C cycloalkyl; 7-9C phenylalkyl; phenyl; naphthyl; biphenyl; phenyl, naphthyl or biphenyl substituted by one or more halogen, 1-12C alkyl and/or 1-12C alkoxy groups; a monovalent 5 or 6 membered heterocyclic ring containing N, O or S; 1-18C alkoxy; phenoxy; or phenoxy, benzyloxy or cyclohexyloxy substituted by halogen, 1-4C alkyl or 1-4C alkoxy; R<5> and R<6> independently = 1-18C alkyl; 1-4C alkyl substituted by halogen or 1-6C alkoxy; 5-8C cycloalkyl; 7-9C phenylalkyl; phenyl; naphthyl; biphenyl; phenyl, naphthyl or biphenyl substituted by one or more halogen, 1-12C alkyl and/or 1-12C alkoxy groups; or a monovalent 5 or 6 membered heterocyclic ring containing N, O or S.
