PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem that either one of manual coating, mechanical coating and automatic coating is performed heretofore when an edge banding is bonded to the edge part of furniture. SOLUTION: The coating apparatus is constituted of a guide device for guiding the strip material attached to a coating head in a detachable manner along a predetermined route to pass the same through the outlet opening of a slot nozzle, the first guide member coming into contact with the surface of the strip material opposite to a surface to be coated with an adhesive during the operation of the guide device and at least one additional guide member coming into contact with the edge part of the strip material during operation.
