STRAIN BELONGING TO THE GENUS -i(BACILLUS) AND INSECTICIDAL PROTEINS

An objective of the present invention is to provide Bt bacteria having insecticidal activity not only against insects of the Lepidoptera but also against other insects, an insecticidal protein produced by said Bt bacteria, the genes encoding the protein, hosts to produce the insecticidal protein, and insect pest exterminating agents. The new strain according to the present invention is strain SSK-10, which is classified into Bacillus thuringiensis, deposited under the access number of FERM BP-6162. The protein according to the present invention comprises (a) an amino acid sequence depicted in SEQ ID NO: 1, or (b) an amino acid sequence depicted in SEQ ID NO: 2 which has insecticidal activity wherein one or more amino acids are substituted, deleted, added or inserted. <IMAGE>
