<p>The panel consists of a core (10) made from wood shavings and a binder, sandwiched between skins (11,12) made from at least two thin sheets (13-15) of wood stuck together with adhesive. Adjacent sheets of wood are positioned with their grains running at an angle to one another, and both the wood shavings and sheets are impregnated with a resin which acts as both binder and adhesive. A variant can have a sheet of a synthetic or mineral material stuck to the outer face of at least one of the skins, or a layer of moisture and temperature resistant carbon, glass or synthetic fibers stuck to one of the wood sheets.</p> |
