PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To apply paints in many colors while changing the colors and to make the coater small-sized and lightweight. SOLUTION: A housing 12 provided with a coating machine 19 is attached to the wrist 5 of a coating robot. Discrete feed units 29 for each color contg. a paint valve 40 and a solvent valve 41 are prepared, and each feed unit 29 is connected to a source of paint in each color and a solvent source through a paint hose 42 and a solvent hose 43. In coating, the units 29 are interchanged and attached to the housing 12 to supply the paint in each color to the coating machine 19. Consequently, the paints in many colors are applied by one coater 11 while changing the colors.
