PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new protein which consists of Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae surface protein having a specific amino acid sequence, and is useful, for example, for a simple and rapid method for detecting E. rhusiopathiae or an antibody to it, and a method for diagnosing pig erysipelas which gives a big damage to the hog raising industry. SOLUTION: This protein consists of (A) an amino acid sequence coded for a DNA having a base sequence shown by the formula, or (B) an amino acid sequence which one or more amino acid(s) of the amino acid sequence is/are deleted from, substituted, or added to. Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae having the protein, belongs to one of serotypes 1a, 1b, 2, 5, 8, 9, 11, 12, 13, 15, 16, 17, and N. This protein is useful, for example, for a method for detecting E. rhusiopathiae or an antibody to it, and a method for examining pig erysipelas. This protein is obtained by screening an E. rhusiopathiae chromosomal DNA library, followed by expressing the obtained gene. |
