PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the generation of water resulted from the decomposed residue of a cross-linking agent and prevent the reduction in electric characteristic of a power cable and a connecting part thereof by using a composition consisting of a cross-linked polyethylene and an urea compound added thereto in a specified ratio as an insulator. SOLUTION: To 100 pts.wt. of cross-linked polyethylene, 0.005-2 pts.wt. of a compound of formula I or formula II is added. In the formula, R and R1 represent a 4C or more aliphatic hydrocarbon or aromatic hydrocarbon, and R2-5 represents an aliphatic hydrocarbon or aromatic hydrocarbon. Examples of the compound of formula I include N-butyl-N'-stearyl urea, N-stearyl-N'- stearyl urea and the like, and examples of the compound of formula II include xylene bisstearyl urea, toluilene bisstearyl urea and the like. The cross-linked polyethylene is preferably obtained by adding dicumyl peroxide to polyethylene. The urea compound suppresses the secondary decomposing reaction of the dicumyl peroxide to suppress the thermal decomposition of the resulting dicumyl alcohol.
|
