Electronic panorama camera

The panoramic camera includes a housing (10) comprising a first part (3) and a second part (5) coaxial with the first about an axis of rotation (2). The second part (5) may be driven in rotation about the first by a motor driving a pinion which engages a toothed wheel. A lens (7) is mounted in the second part of the housing and is orientated with it axis perpendicular to the axis of rotation and thus lying radially with respect to the housing. A linear CCD device is placed at the focus of this lens in order to receive the images transmitted by the lens. An A/D converter is connected to the linear sensor in order to provide digital information. The digital information is stored on a hard disc, together with information about the azimuth of the camera. A microcomputer controls rotation of the housing and co-ordinates this with the image storage.
