PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing method whereby a noise curve related to an image formed by pixels having brightnesses involving signal components and noise components dependent on signals is determined. SOLUTION: This method involves sampling an image (S100), dividing the collection of the brightness levels of the image into bands having substantially uniform brightness levels (S101), and determining a plurality of statistical distribution rules for coupling the distribution of quantized standard noise deviations to the brightnesses of the bands at the levels of the quantized standard noise deviations (S111). A plurality of standard noise deviations are determined as a function of the substantially uniform brightness levels of the image in accordance with the statistical distribution rules (S114), and a noise curve is determined as a function of the brightness levels of the image and as the statistical rules of the distribution of the standard noise deviations (S120). |
