PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a refractory used for a slide valve or the like of a slide valve device for molten metal flow rate control and having high spalling resistance. SOLUTION: The refractory is composed of 5-70 wt.% alumina material containing at least an alumina natural raw material, which contains >=50 wt.% aluminum component and has >=5% porosity, having >=0.3 mm particle diameter, an additive and the balance a fine particle diameter alumina powder containing 1-90 wt.% aluminum oxide component and having <=0.3 mm particle diameter. The spalling resistant refractory is suppressed in erosion with high spalling resistance. |
