PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a steel sheet for cans few in the generation of defects and small in plane anisotropy at the time of can-making. SOLUTION: This steel sheet for cans few in defects and small in plane anisotropy contains, by weight, 0.01 to 0.10% C, 0.001 to 0.10% Si, 0.05 to 1.0% Mn, 0.001 to 0.050% P, 0.001 to 0.030% S, 0.0005 to 0.0060% N, 0.002 to 0.008% Al, 0.002 to 0.020% Ti and ti(%)>3.43×N(%), and the balance iron with inevitable impurities and having <=150μm average particle size, and as inclusions in the steel, oxide inclusions essentially consisting of titanium oxides, manganese oxides, silicon oxides and alumina, and in which the total of titanium oxides (TiO and X=1.5 to 2.0) and alumina (Al2 O3 ) is regulated to <=40% are contained.
