PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a high speed three-dimensional scan radar sensor system give a range map in an operation environment where it is disturbed by dust, fog and rain. SOLUTION: The sensor system 20 radiates a sensor beam formed by high frequency energy pulses of a short duration time. The direction of the sensor beam is controlled by using a scan mechanism provided with a high speed revolution reflector. It includes a timing system 24 for determining elapsing time between a radiation signal and reception signal. The time difference indicates the distance to the target which reflected energy. The signal returned from an antenna is controlled and transmitted to a constant fraction discriminator(CFD) for surely detecting the time when the reflection signal is received. A high accuracy timer starts at a certain time for energy release and stops at a time the CFD detected a trigger. This timing system 24 produces an analog voltage which is proportional to the down range distance to the target.
|
