PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a physically compact wavelength monitor with the low cost. SOLUTION: A wavelength monitor 20 detects the wavelength drift of a component channel signal in the multiple wavelength optical signals 21. The multiple wavelength light 21 entered into the wavelength monitor 20 is concatenized along a multipoint travelling path. In the travelling path, the component channel signal is entered into a series of wavelength discriminators 22 mounted on an optical transmission member 26. Each wavelength discriminator 22 has the transmissivity to one specific channel signal, and has the reflectivity to the other component channel signals of the multiple wavelength optical signals. According to a first desirable embodiment, the optical transmission by each wavelength discriminator 22 is monotonously fluctuated in accordance with the fluctuation of the wavelength of the specific channel signal. Each selective transmission channel signal 25 is picked up by a detector 24, and the detector 24 generates the output current to be mapped to the corresponding signal wavelength. |
