The invention relates to a device for releasing a pneumatic spring. The pneumatic spring comprises a release pin for freeing the locking of the pneumatic spring in order to lengthen or shorten it. According to the invention, the device 6 comprises: - a lever arm 7, the one end 7a of which is free and intended to be actuated when the pneumatic spring 4 is released; - an opening 8 in which the lever arm 7 is located so that it can be turned and which opening 8 is located on a part 2 in which the end 4b provided with the release pin 5 of the pneumatic spring 4 is fixed and such that the opening 8 is in front of the release pin 5 of the pneumatic spring 4; and - a widened section 10, which is located at the end 7b of the lever arm 7 and which widened section has a surface 10a lying essentially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis (A-A) of the lever arm 7 and which is arranged to actuate the release pin 5 of the pneumatic spring in order to free the pneumatic spring when the lever arm 7 is directed to one side. The pneumatic spring and the device according to the invention can be fitted to a telescopic support or a telescopic arm or equivalent mechanical unit consisting of elongated parts which are movable relative to one another. <IMAGE>
