<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To aerobically purify sewage containing org. matter/ammonia by sprinkling the same over a reaction tank packed with a filter material from above to bring the same into contact with microorganisms propagating on the filter medium. SOLUTION: In an aerobic biological treatment apparatus wherein sewage containing org. matter/ammonia is sprinkled over a reaction tank 1 packed with a filter medium 2 from above and aerobically purified during a period when the sewage flows down while comes into contact with microorganisms propagating on the filter medium, nonwoven fabrics and spacers are used as the filter medium 2 to be charged in the upwardly opened reaction tank 1 in a state alternatively stacked in a vertical direction and sewage is sprinkled over the reaction tank from above to be purified by the nonwoven fabrics and the spacers. The reaction tank 1 is formed as a circular cylinder having a circular planar shape or a square cylinder having a square planar shape and, when the reaction tank has a cylindrical shape, the nonwoven fabrics and the spacers are spirally stacked to be charged and, when the reaction tank has a square-cylindrical shape, the nonwoven fabrics and the spacers are alternatively and linearly stacked to be charged.</p> |
