PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a white polyester film for metal laminate having excellent heat laminate property and strength, excellent in hiding property and whiteness, giving little thickness change of the film after heat lamination to a metal plate and uniform whiteness of the surface of a can, excellent in the productivity of the film, and useful for surface coating of a can. SOLUTION: This film comprises a compsn. in which 20-40 wt.% titanium oxide is compounded to a polyester comprising 95-75 mol.% ethylene terephthalate unit and 5-25 mol.% ethylene isophthalate unit, and the void rate of this film is not greater than 7%. It is desirable to have the following properties. (1) Tensile strength is not lower than 10 kgf/mm<2> . (2) Tensile elongation is not lower than 70%. (3) Thermal contraction after 150 deg.C, 30 min treatment is not greater than 6.0% for both machine direction(MD) and transverse direction(TD). (4) Whiteness is not lower than 81.0. |
