Pigments comprise spherical particles, each bearing a chrome layer, for use in paints and lacquers to give the appearance of chromium plating. Paints or lacquers for the provision of a shiny surface on a substrate, contain a pigment consisting of spherical substrate particles, each particle individually being coated with a layer of chromium.
