PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a lid from carelessly opening during operation in a garbage treatment machine equipped with the lid opened and closed through a hinge. SOLUTION: A lid opening and closing apparatus is constituted of a receiving stand 39, the operation lever 34 supporting the receiving stand 39 to revolve the same, the hook 35 moved in cooperation with the operation lever 34 and the projection 37 freely engaged with the hook 35 and erected on the upper surface of a main body 22. Further, the lock rod 41 preventing the engagement and disengagement of the hinge 35 and the projection 37 is attached so as to be operated during operation by a solenoid.
