The invention relates to a coating based on leather materials, which is applied dissolved in water and has high thermal and sound insulating properties. Said coating consists of: between 0 and 98 % by weight ground leather which contains between 70 and 95 % by weight particles between 0.5 and 4 mm in size and/or filaments between 1 and 15 mm in length which have been ground to flakes, as well as between 2 and 20 % by weight of glue; or a mixture of between 50 and 94 % by weight ground leather and between 1 and 48 % by weight fillers as well as between 2 and 20 % by weight glue; in the case coloured coatings no more than 15 % by weight, in relation to the weight of ground leather or total weight of ground leather and fillers, of a dye. The invention also relates to a coating of the type described above which in addition contains between 1 and 10 % by weight soluble silicates to ensure fire resistance. |
