PURPOSE:To enhance the capacity and life of an electrode by using, as a negative electrode a one obtained by charging carbon powder worked to a specified particle size sphere into a foamed metal never alloyed with an alkali metal. CONSTITUTION:In a nonaqueous electrolytic secondary battery having a chargeable positive electrode 4, a nonaqueous electrolyte containing an alkali metal ion, and a negative electrode 2, the negative electrode 2 obtained by charging carbon powder worked to a sphere having a particle size of 1-300 microns to a foamed metal never alloyed with alkali metal is used. By working the carbon powder into the sphere, the charging property into the foamed metal which is a three-dimensional porous body is improved, and the carbon negative electrode 2 charged at a high density can be easily manufactured. The metal foamed body is obtained by plating the surface of a sponge foamed body such as polyurethane resin with nickel by electroless plating, and burning and removing the resin. |
